In my experience setting an intention can be a very powerful way to bring about the change you desire! You have to remember, your brain controls your body. If you give it a message, it just may land where you need it to and you may just get the desired outcome.
For example, I often clench my jaw when I sleep. I set the intention before I went to bed one night that I would relax my jaw and feel great when I woke up the next morning. Guess what? It actually worked!! No jaw pain, no headache (that often accompanied it)...success! Since I have recommended that specific intention to many clients, they all reported similarily great results.
The one tip I do have is to come from a place of positivity not negativity. Notice how I didn't say, " I will not clench my jaw and not have pain" coming from a positive mindset instead of negative correction is a way to train your brain to focus on the positive.
Coach Dan Noble says it best;
"Intent is everything....
A bad program done well will still garner more results than a good program done poorly.
The way we compete and the purpose behind everything we do is how we got to where we are today. It's not my program...It's our program and each person in it carries a responsibility to live up to that standard. #offseason #underdogs"
Coach Noble's thought process can be applied to every facet of life, not just sports.
